I'm Smarter Than an Atheist!

Took the test.
Yes...I am smarter than Richard Dawkins, which is no surprise considering that he thinks it's possible that aliens planted life on Earth. Sheesh....

I really can't believe the reported results. It seems like you would pick most of that stuff up in the course of an ordinary life.
OK, I did miss the question about who led the "Great Awakening". But there was a good reason for that. Not going to give it away but the creepy politician fooled me.
So...take the Quiz: Are You Smarter Than an Atheist? And hey, let's try to do better than those Agnostics, anyway.

If My People Will Humble Themselves and Pray...

"I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him." -- Mark 11:23

Hello Linda,

40 Days for Life Today is the 6th day of the Fall 40 Days for Life campaign, and it is THE day we have been waiting for in Severna Park for over a decade!

We have CONFIRMED that Gynecare is CLOSED, and will NOT REOPEN it's doors!!! The office suite that Gynecare has operated in for years is already listed for rent, and we have confirmed with the listing agent that "the current tenant" will be completely out of the office "SOON".

It is Official - NO MORE ABORTIONS IN SEVERNA PARK!!!

Please read the Scripture at the top of this email...it is THE scripture that we have been praying at the Vigil site and at my church for weeks. God has answered our prayers...because we BELIEVED that He WOULD.

Some examples of God fulfilling this promise to 40 Days for Life, and answering our BOLD and SPECIFIC prayers:

1. PRAYER - We have been praying in front of the Gynecare facility on Sunday afternoons (when it's empty) for several weeks now. One Sunday, God moved us to get up and go down to Ferrer's house to pray for him, for his conversion, and for him to STOP doing abortions. The prayer was specific, and on purpose according to His Word - Dear Lord, please end abortions at Gynecare on Tuesday, Sept 7th.

ANSWER - We found out late Wednesday night, Sept 8th that Ferrer's medical license had been suspended!

2. PRAYER - We prayed Wednesday morning, September 22nd for Wartanian to STOP performing abortions, that very day.

ANSWER - He did agree to STOP - THAT VERY DAY, and we confirmed on Thursday that Wartanian did indeed call Gynecare on Wednesday to tell them he would not be coming to the facility again!

3. PRAYER - We prayed Wednesday night, 9/22, that Gynecare would CLOSE ITS DOORS on Thursday, 9/23.

ANSWER - We confirmed 3 seperate times on Thursday, 9/23, that Gynecare was CLOSED and NOT accepting appointments or doing abortions!

4. PRAYER - We prayed Friday night, and then again just THIS MORNING, 9/27, that God would show us TODAY, Monday 9/27, that Gynecare was closed FOR GOOD.

ANSWER - We confirmed, TODAY, that Gynecare is CLOSED -
FOR GOOD
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

God has heard our prayers and has moved...but we STILL aren't done yet. We need to continue to SING TO and PRAISE God for the answers and Grace that He has shown these past few months. Countless lives have been saved and will be saved because of the closing of Gynecare in Severna Park!

Join the Vigil The Vigil is still in progress, on the corner of Ritchie Highway and Jones Station Rd, in Severna Park. Please go to the Vigil Calendar right away to get registered and start signing up for timeslots. We will have further information about what our plans will be for the remainder of this 40 Days for Life campaign no later than Wednesday, 9/29.

So PLEASE go to the Vigil Calendar RIGHT NOW, and fill in your name next to the yellow and red spots tomorrow. We NEED to have coverage all 12 hours...7 days a week. God has moved and is moving in mighty ways - let's make sure He hears our PRAYERS and our PRAISE, from wherever we are!!

We STILL do not have any further information about Ferrer's Hearing, but we will keep trying to get more information. Feel free to call the MD Board of Physicians yourself and ask for a status - 410-764-4777 or 1-800-492-6836. Please also continue to pray that they will decide to permanently revoke Ferrer's Medical License so there is no question about his future in medicine!

The End of Abortion in Severna Park is HERE!!!! Pray that it stays that way!

Thank you and God Bless,

They Didn't Listen....Will We?

This is what God told Israel before they crossed the Jordan into the land of Canaan.
He wanted them to stay true to Him and be His holy nation. They started out OK, but they didn't follow the command to teach God's law to their children, and so, generation after generation had to learn the hard way. Are we teaching our children? Are we worshiping other gods?

Deuteronomy 11:

16 Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them. 17 Then the LORD's anger will burn against you, and he will shut the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce, and you will soon perish from the good land the LORD is giving you. 18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, 21 so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land that the LORD swore to give your forefathers, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.

Happy Birthday Lilly!

Today we celebrated sweet Lilly!
Nina and Johnny put on a fabulous birthday party, and everyone had a great time!

They invited a whole bunch of friends, and Lilly was a perfect little hostess. She was a bit wound up before the party, but once everyone got there, she settled right in and was right at home in the place of honor.

She has some really cute little friends and their moms and dads are all very nice.

She got some very nice presents and was so polite, saying "Thank You" to everyone.
I was so proud of her.

She helped us all sing "Happy Birthday", so that we wouldn't forget the words. Then she was the first person the check out the cake, and make sure that it was OK for the rest of us. So gracious!

The pinata was a hit...A blind-folded Lilly with a long stick is a force to be reckoned with...

And I think a good time was had by all.

40 Days For Life-Day 4

22 babies saved so far!!

This, from the 40 Day for Life Blog:

Today, of course, is Saturday — the busiest day for abortions at many of the facilities where 40 Days for Life vigils are being conducted. If that’s the case in your city, and you have an opportunity to join the prayer vigil, please do so.

Your prayers are needed — urgently!

We’re all human and we want to know if our prayers are being heard. I’d like to tell you a couple of stories that I hope will offer you proof that our merciful God is listening to every word.

It had been a long day for Eileen at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Beaumont, Texas. As she was about ready to go home, she looked up over the roof of the abortion center and noticed a rainbow beginning to form. “There was no rain anywhere,” she said.

Eileen and the other volunteers had been praying for the conversion of the abortion facility staff. “As we stood there in awe looking and beholding a sign from God that He would protect us,” she said, “another rainbow formed on top of that one.”

The rainbows remained for about five minutes, “and the color seemed to get darker instead of lighter.”

Here’s a photo of the rainbows:

40 Days for Life participants in Chandler, Arizona received a sign as well.

One of the local coordinators has a van with a “pray to end abortion” sign on the side. The owner watched from a distance as a woman drove up to the van, got out, scribbled a note, and stuck it on the windshield.

They wondered if the sign on the van had prompted a “nastygram,” but that was not the case at all. The message simply said, “Thank You! Never grow weary! May God be glorified in the excellence of your work.”

“That message was not just for us,” said Anita in Chandler. “That message is for everyone who is out there praying right now. It’s for every person who has taken the time to stand in the rain, the snow, the heat or on a very beautiful day, simply to peacefully pray for an end to abortion.”

Stink Bugs Taking Area by Swarm

They're everywhere

By DERRICK WARD
Updated 9:41 AM EDT, Fri, Sep 24, 2010

Smelly, pesky bugs known as stink bugs have been swarming the Washington, D.C. area -- and when you try to kill them, they just smell worse.

"When you try to kill them, before death, they stink," said Michael Raupp, an entomology professor at the University of Maryland. "They want to find a place to chill out for the winter. They're not coming in for warmth, they're coming in for refuge.

"They'll invade your attack and come in for the winter time. But on a nice warm day in February, they're going to say, 'Oh, spring,' and come down and be all over your windows and your baseboards and things like that."

Some frustrated area residents have gone as far as using their vacuum cleaners to combat these stinky critters. Scientists call their kind halyomorpha halys. They smell so badly because when threatened, they release a smelly defensive chemical.

Starting Today...

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each
other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another.
Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love,
... which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Colossians 3:12-14
Someone posted this on Facebook. It really took hold of my heart today.

This is one of the most beautiful passages I know of in the Bible. Paul knew so much whereof he wrote, after being forgiven and accepted in Christ, by the very people he had been persecuting.

Of all those in my life, and there have been many, that I have been thoughtless, uncaring, ungrateful or unloving toward, I ask forgiveness.
I have been forgiven so much by the Lord. He has bathed me in His ocean of Mercy. What a Savior we have in Christ!

I am going to post this passage where I can see it every day. I am going ask for the Grace to live as Paul instructed. Going forward in Love. Clothing myself in compassion.
It's a daily challenge, but he only asks us to get through a day at a time.

Starting today....

Just a little humor.
Yeah, it's a little snide....that's OK. We gotta laugh.

Project Rachel

Understanding Abortion's Aftermath

It's normal to grieve a pregnancy loss, including the loss of a child by abortion. It can form a hole in one's heart, a hole so deep that sometimes it seems nothing can fill the emptiness.

Since 1973, there have been more than 50 million abortions in the United States. While some women report relatively little trauma following abortion, for many, the experience is devastating, causing severe and long-lasting emotional, psychological and spiritual trauma.

Evidence of post-abortion trauma is increasingly attested to by psychologists, counselors and those involved in post-abortion ministry. We now know, for example, that women hurt by abortion may have some or many of the following symptoms:

  • Low self-esteem
  • Grief (mild to profound)
  • Depression (sometimes to the point of suicidal thoughts and attempts)
  • A sense of alienation from family and friends
  • A feeling of being 'numb,' not able to feel joy from activities that used to be pleasurable
  • Isolating self from others to avoid discussing the abortion experience with them
  • Guilt and shame
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Anger toward self, or the child's father, or others involved in the abortion decision
  • Sleep disorders
  • Abortion-related nightmares, flashbacks or even sounds of a baby crying
  • Alcohol and drug problems, to dull the sorrow
  • Desire for a 'replacement' baby
  • Anniversary reactions of grief or depression on the date of the abortion or the baby's expected due date
  • Problems bonding with her other children (being over-protective but emotionally distant)
  • Fear that God will punish her, or is punishing her

Some, especially young girls, experience symptoms soon after the abortion. Counselors tell us, however, that it is more common for the symptoms to occur over the course of five to twelve years after the abortion before a woman seeks help.

Abortion's aftermath is largely ignored by the general public. Groups organized to protect the availability of abortion claim that abortion is no different from any surgical procedure and that pro-life groups are fabricating the existence of post-abortion suffering. Consequently, many women think that their grief reactions are somehow abnormal and believe that there is nowhere to turn for help.

WOW.

House Republicans will release Thursday morning their “Pledge to America,” a detailed and ambitious set of economic, social, and procedural reforms that, if enacted, would dramatically change the course set by President Obama and congressional Democrats.~ National Review Online

The Preamble:

In a self-governing society, the only bulwark against the power of the state is the consent of the governed, and regarding the policies of the current government, the governed do not consent.

An unchecked executive, a compliant legislature, and an overreaching judiciary have combined to thwart the will of the people and overturn their votes and their values, striking down long-standing laws and institutions and scorning the deepest beliefs of the American people.

An arrogant and out-of-touch government of self-appointed elites makes decisions, issues mandates, and enacts laws without accepting or requesting the input of the many.

Rising joblessness, crushing debt, and a polarizing political environment are fraying the bonds among our people and blurring our sense of national purpose.

Like free peoples of the past, our citizens refuse to accommodate a government that believes it can replace the will of the people with its own. The American people are speaking out, demanding that we realign our country’s compass with its founding principles and apply those principles to solve our common problems for the common good.

The need for urgent action to repair our economy and reclaim our government for the people cannot be overstated.

With this document, we pledge to dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations to the permanent truths of our founding by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people. This is our Pledge to America.

40 Days, Day 1

Today begins the latest great effort in the Spiritual Warfare against the evil of Abortion.

This year it is an international effort.

Thousands of people all over the world will be fasting, traveling to clinics and hospitals, and visibly praying to offer hope and healing to women that feel they have no other alternative.

The number of babies and mothers saved, the clinic workers that have quit their jobs, the clinics that are exposed to the public, are all a testimony to the truth.

If you would like to join the fight, go to the website and see how you can help.
Fasting and committed prayer are some of the most effective means, and you don't even have to leave home!
If you sign up for updates, you will get a daily email with all kinds of wonderful news about the triumphs and blessings that will occur throughout the coming weeks. And there will be many.

For all the women and children that are in spiritual and physical danger of harm due to abortion we pray....

Lord Bless them and keep them....
Let your Mercy be on them....
Keep their angels close to them....
In Jesus Holy Name we pray.

How Could We Ever Forget?

Today marks one of the most difficult, and incomprehensible days in the history of our country.

We all remember where we were at the moment that we heard about the horrendous news of an airliner, no, two airliners, smashing into the World Trade Center in New York. We couldn't believe it. It couldn't be possible for that to happen by accident, but how could it happen on purpose?
Who could conceive of doing such a thing?
Then... the Pentagon? Another Airliner crashing in Pennsylvania?
This was beyond even the imagination of a movie script writer. And it was real. It was true.
It is still true.
Mommies and Daddies that should be watching their kids go to high school are being memorialized in services held once again this year.
Families that were torn apart feel the raw horror of all those pictures and the stories told on the news once again.
Our national consciousness reels at the thought that there are people out there that hate us so much, just because we are us.

The images are stark and ugly. They are unthinkable.
They are indelible.

God Bless all those that lost loved ones. God Bless the people that have fought to come back from the tragedy and move forward. God Bless those that take care of the survivors and the families.

God Bless our Nation. Protect us and lead us in your Truth.
Let us never forget that we are "One Nation Under God".

Home....

This has been a great week!

Laura and the girls came to visit, from Texas, on Wednesday.
Lucy and Molly picked right up where we left off in March! They are so good, sleeping and just being so cooperative.

Nina and Lilly came over yesterday.

That was a lot of fun, because the girls got to play all morning and then we took Lilly to the pool in the afternoon and she swam like a fish!

Today the guys started the fence!
We waited for someone to call us back about doing the post holes. It seemed like no one really cared to, so we decided to do it ourselves!

Well, the guys did. I am not very good at all that right now.
I went and got some of the posts today.

The boys have been helping Tim

Brendan and Paul are making a pretty tidy sum!
Brendan is so strong and a very hard worker. He can dig a hole by himself, and that bar is really heavy! He has dug four holes already...

Maggie is going to have a blast out there in the yard. The boys have been talking about how much fun it will be to have a fence so that they can really get out and play with her.
She loves to run, but she is getting so fast that it makes me really nervous. This will make such a difference for her.
It's a great yard and she is going get the most out of it!
