At The Fair

So we went up to the Cecil County Fair today.
It was pretty much the same as it was the last time we went, but we did see some great people!

One of the girls from my Confirmation class, Lindsey, is showing her cattle, and she did very well with her steers. They are very big and very beautiful!

Lilly's little friend, Reed, is quite an equestrienne and she and her pony, Snow White, made a good showing. She has a lot of ribbons to hang!

Brendan and Paul made a few new friends...

Claire Sneeringer and the doll she made!

Another remarkable cow...

Someone didn't have such a great time, however, a little girl fell from the bleachers and had to be airlifted out.

Brendan and Paul got to go to the Great Wolf Lodge with Tim while John and I were at Camp.

...and on Wednesday Tim went in to the Hospital for what we hoped would be a short-stay surgery, but turned into a very long ordeal. 4 and 1/2 hours of surgery, and a night and a day in the hospital.
We are home now but he is going to have some recovering to do.
God has been very good to us. He has given us so much!

July Starts With a BANG!

Wow, it's only the 4th of July, and we have already done so much!
Sunday night John had a sleepover with six of his friends, and a riotous time was had by all.
They swam at the pool, and we cooked out up there. They closed the pool, and we headed up to the cemetery to watch the Havre de Grace fireworks show. It was a little too far away to be truly impressive, but I think the guys had a good time anyway.
The next day, most of the boys were able to stay and they got together a rousing version of "Hunger Games". It was a lot of running, weaponry, fighting and welts. Since the weapons were only of the Nerf variety, everyone finished the game with all their limbs intact.
In the afternoon we headed deep into North Harford County, which is kind of a country of it's own, and attended the cast party for the Susquehanna Player's "King Lear". The party was hosted by one of the families, and it was so generous of them! They have a beautiful house, with a pool, and the kids swam and just had a great time. After dinner Paula presented the kids with their certificates and gave each of them a framed photo from the play. She did SUCH a nice job with them!

John getting his picture.

Last night we went to an Ironbirds game and I think it actually made history! The Aberdeen Ironbirds have a less than stellar record, but last night they treated us to a 21-7 win against the Staten Island Yankees! What fun! After the game, we stayed for an amazing fireworks show. It was really a great evening!

Today we enjoyed a quiet 4th, just going to the pool and having a yummy dinner with Nina and Lilly.
