A Tale of Two Shoes

The saga of my shoes is ongoing.

We need character shoes for the show, and I didn't feel like forking over $50-$60 bucks. So I checked Craig's List and found some great ones. Just my size...until I discovered that character shoes tend to run at least 1/2 size small. These are a size 7...er, 6 1/2.

So I thought I would see about having them stretched. I only needed a little room in the toe after all. Now the people at Red Wing shoes in Bel Air are wonderful. They really are. They are the only shoe store in the area that had anything to stretch shoes. Could be because they are one of the few stores in the area that actually sells leather shoes, and not plastic. Anyway...I asked and they said that they would be happy to put them on the stretcher for a couple of days.
I picked them up on Wednesday, and they were perfect! Plenty of room in the toe.
I was so pleased...

The next day I got them out to try them on before I went to rehearsal.
Well, I kind of felt like Cinderella's step-sister. I pushed and shoved into those perfect-fitting shoes, and finally got them on. Ugh! They were back to the size that they started out at.

So... not to be beaten by the bad boys, I have called in a couple of friends and we are gonna make them behave...

In other news,

John has been working out and his program seems to be working!
