One highlight for the boys was when one of the kids who had a bag full of candy to throw (we always sit at the beginning of the route) spilled it all over the road, and her mom yelled to all the kids to come and get it before the vehicles ran over it! That just never happens in the non-parade world...
And then there was the creepy clown. I have had a mild clown phobia since, I don't know, the circus when I was three? This guy was really, really trying to promote severe coulrophobia (that's fear of clowns-Google it). I suspect he succeeded in the two little boys next to us...
