One thing less...

We had our last Sonlight class of the year today.
I have to say it is nice to have one less thing to think about, however, today it was so much fun!
I stayed up until midnight last night putting together handouts and the craft.
I had a BUNCH of information on Ireland, some maps, a CD of Celtic music, a great stained glass craft that Laura had shown me and Shortbread for a snack.
I started the kids on the drawing as soon as they were all seated and they were industrious and attentive throughout the whole presentation.
I love these kids. The girls and boys are in separate rooms and we switch off teaching them an hour at a time. It is so much fun to hear their insights on the material. The girls were helping each other and did some beautiful work.
The boys have been a challenge in the past, but they were really into the craft as well. They didn't listen as well but I think it's just harder for boys to try to do too many different things at once. There are nine of them and a few rather exciting dynamics. One of the boys has definite special needs and the others are so gentle and good to him. Even the ones that I am a little frustrated with are always so sweet to Michael. He doesn't realize what a ministry he has!
I am glad not to have to plan another class though and to have the rest of the weeks of the year to devote to our studies at home. John is winding down several of his subjects and I am getting excited about the prospect of summer.
Summer is always busy for me because it means planning another year. I love looking through curriculum catalogs and I REALLY love the annual NACHE Conference. It is going to be really awesome this year. I am definitely going to make a point of hearing Peter Kreeft, one of my absolute favorite authors.
The EXPO has really evolved from a homeschooling event to a Catholic Family event.
There are still so many vendors and so much fantastic curricullum that it boggles my mind every year!
I am now going to go pray with the little darlings. They are beginning to sound a bit snarly so it must be bedtime! Oh, shucks!
